The 2008 Prince George's County Fair will be holding a KARAOKE CONTEST

where you can win a CASH prize or a SCHOLARSHIP.

The Fair, in conjunction with the John Robert Powers Agency, will be awarding a

SCHOLARSHIP (valued at $1250) to the John Roberts Powers Agency to the best singer that is age 16 or younger!!!

The John Robert Powers Agency,

a company that has been around for more than 80 years, is a nationally known firm that will help you develop

the skills that are useful no matter what kind of career you choose.

Here are the 2008 Karaoke Contest Winners!

Contest Rules

  • + Two Age Divisions: 17 and Older - 16 and Younger (Must have ID noting age).
  • + Registration will be done at the Fair - no pre-registration is necessary.
  • + Singers will sing in order registered (Judges will track age division).
  • + A parent must accompany/register all singers 16 and younger.
  • + Only one singer will be judged at a time.
  • + If more than one singer is on together, ONLY one singer will be judged.
  • + NO profanity will be allowed at any time. (If this happens, the microphone power will be disconnected and the singer will be disqualified.)
  • + Only one song per singer - time limit is 3 minutes or less (long verse songs will be cut at 3 minutes).
  • + Singer's names will be called to keep four (4) on standby at all times. Any singer not at the stage when it is their time to sing will be disqualified.
  • + This is a family show, appropriate dress must be adhered to while on stage.
  • + Any singers not present when the winners are announced may call the Fair Office at 301-952-0270 the next day to see if they have made it to the finals. Winner's re-entry ticket for the finals may also be picked up at the Fair Office.
  • + All finalists MUST be at the Fair Stage and checked in by 12:00 Noon on Sunday for the Final Competition - No Exceptions!!
  • + No food, drink or smoking is allowed on stage.


    • Judging

  • There are five (5) judges for each contest, as well as for the finals. The judge's decisions will be final.

  • The competition will start on Thursday 4 September and go thru Sunday 7 September. Five (5) singers will be selected Thursday from each division, ten (10) singers will be selected Friday from each division and ten (10) singers will be selected Saturday from each division.

  • Sunday morning will be FUN SINGING until 12:00 Noon. The 50 singers selected earlier will then compete for the finals in each division.

  • Note: All prizes will be awarded and are non-transferable.

  • By entering the Karaoke Contest, I hereby give the Prince George's County Fair Association the absolute right and permission to use photographic pictures of me, in whole or in part, or composite or distorted on character or form, in conjunction with my own or a fictitious name, or reproductions thereof in color, or otherwise, made through any media at our venue or elsewhere, for art, advertising, trade or any other lawful purpose whatever.

  • I hereby waive any right that I may have to inspect and/or approve the finished product or advertising copy that may be used in connection therewith, or the use in which it may be applied.

  • I hereby release, discharge, and agree to save the Prince George's County Fair Association any liability by virtue of any blurring, distortion, alteration, optical illusion, or use in composite form, whether intentional or otherwise, that may occur or be produced in the taking of the said pictures, or in any processing tending toward the completion of the finished product.
