Section 151: Handspun & Weaving


Basis for Judging Handspinning & Handwork

  • 1. Each skein or article must be spun and constructed by the entrant.
  • 2. Work must have been completed since August of the previous year.
  • 3. All handspinning is to be done on spinning wheels, either hand or foot controlled, or drop spindles.
  • 4. Skeins must be approximately 2 oz. or larger, except for fine fibers such as silk or cashmere, which must be at least 1 oz.
  • 5. Skeins must have a circumference of 1.5-2 yards, be washed and blocked, and be labeled with the type of fiber, if known, and the intended use of the skein.
